During Angel’s contemplation, a roaring sound echoed from behind.

Angel turned his head.

The Mountain Giant that had been lurking in the chasm slowly poked its head out. The ghost hands on the other side of the chasm ceased its motions, and all the ghosts crawled out from underground. At a glance, innumerable ghosts gathered densely.

Among these ghosts, Angel also noticed the Scarlet Ghost and Giant Serpent Ghost hidden within…

At this moment, all these ghosts looked at Angel with their chilling gazes.

Angel smirked discreetly. Another attempt at intimidation?

Without paying attention to what was behind him, Angel looked forward.

Earlier, when he was on the other side of the abyss, he couldn’t see clearly what was on this side. All he could discern was darkness, but he could sense an overwhelming malevolence.

It was only when Angel actually stood on this side of the abyss that he realized this malevolence had almost materialized into a mist. This malicious mist blocked all of Angel’s vision.

The surroundings were pitch-black, nothing was visible.

Angel thought that the ghost hands might appear again to guide him, but after waiting for a moment, nothing materialized.

“It seems this chasm marks the boundary,” Angel thought to himself. Perhaps, the time to meet the puppeteer behind the scenes was drawing near.

Angel summoned a source of light and took a few steps forward, but the path remained enigmatically shadowed.

At that moment, a sinister laugh suddenly echoed from the shadows.

It was a woman’s laugh, initially sultry and enticing, but as it persisted, it grew sharper and shriller, reminiscent of a wire scratching against metal, increasingly grating on the ears.

As the laughter reverberated, Angel felt a slight discomfort in his soul. However, it was just a fleeting unease, nothing more.

Yet, this was enough to put Angel on high alert.

His soul was unique, resistant to most forms of negative impact. That such laughter could make him feel uneasy meant it was no trifling matter. Another person might have already met with misfortune.

With heightened caution, Angel continued forward.

After a few steps, the laughter in the dark ceased abruptly, followed by a faint sound of surprise. It seemed the source of the laugh was puzzled, wondering why the laughter had no effect on Angel.

Guided by the earlier sound, Angel swiftly advanced and soon laid eyes on a tree.

Although the tree was some distance away, and he couldn’t see its entirety, the luminous glow of his light spell revealed that the tree was not withered but appeared to be thriving.

The laughter had emanated from this tree.

Drawing his Prelude of Reincarnation, Angel carefully advanced. As he got closer, the full form of the tree became apparent.

Simultaneously, Angel spotted the source of the earlier laughter… a ghost.

Perched on a tree branch was a Scarlet Ghost, looking down at Angel from her elevated position, her eyes, devoid of pupils, radiating madness.

Surrounding the Scarlet Ghost, there were other ghosts. These appeared to be regular ghosts, vanishing and reappearing between the trees. Notably, all these ghosts were male, making it the first time Angel had seen male ghost in this place, apart from the Mountain Giants.

“Why aren’t you with me? Why? Why?” Initially, the Scarlet Ghost’s expression was calm. But as Angel approached, her once delicate face twisted in rage, and she yelled hysterically at Angel.

“Hehe, am I not beautiful?” After her outburst, her anger dissipated suddenly, continuing in a strangely calm tone.

But in an instant, her tone heightened again: “Why? Why? Tell me why?!”

The Scarlet Ghost lunged at Angel, closing the distance between them in a blink. Angel could even see the tumultuous and malevolent soul energy coursing beneath her skin.

“Speak!” The Scarlet Ghost tried to tear Angel’s clothes, but he dodged her. “Answer me!”

Angel remained silent, yet a mental fluctuation resonated in the surrounding space. “In life, she was a Word Spirit Witch. In death, she became a Scarlet Ghost. Her thoughts have perished, but her actions continue.”

“Responding to her is like stepping into a verbal trap.” Angel’s mental fluctuations continued to spread, reaching the darkest depths.

“Her word fluctuations still have a controlling effect. The previous Infant Spirit failed to control me, so now you try with the Scarlet Ghost?” A smirk appeared on Angel’s face. “Why always resort to such lowly tactics? What is your endgame?”

“Is it for me?” The Prelude of Reincarnation twirled on Angel’s fingertip. “Or is it for this?”

After the mental fluctuation was sent out, there was no response. However, Angel was sure that the mastermind behind the scenes had heard him. The previously agitated Scarlet Ghost, who had been bombarding him with questions, had now retreated to a tree, her eyes coldly fixed on Angel.

“You had these ghosts lead me here, not for anything else but to see me. Yet, why do you now hesitate to show yourself?”

“To be honest, I’m unsure why you sought me. However, when I look for you, it’s because I have questions that need answers. There’s an unspoken rule in the Wizarding World called the Principle of Equivalent Exchange. You answer my questions, and in turn, I’ll accommodate your requests. Does that sound fair?” Angel stated, knowing she must be somewhere in the shadows and continued speaking.

“So, you still don’t plan to come out?”

“Or is it that your wings have yet to fully grow, and you feel too frail, fearing to face me?”

“After all, you’ve constantly signaled to me how weak you are… over and over.”

Just as Angel was about to continue, a mocking laugh echoed from the darkness.

A faint light shimmered in Angel’s eyes. Though several years had passed, the feeling that this laughter brought back was unmistakable. He had witnessed with his own eyes how Princess Guman transitioned from a living being to a deceased soul, from a soul entity to a ghost, in Black Castle. Thus, he was no stranger to Princess Guman’s voice. That recent laugh was undoubtedly hers.

Angel pinpointed the source of the laughter but remained motionless, pretending as if he noticed nothing. He resumed, “Do you think I’m joking?”

“Not at all.”

“The path formed by the hands of the ghosts was indeed impressive; the Giant Serpent Ghost sent chills down my spine, as did the colossal Mountain Giant… and so on. All of these are formidable powers, I won’t deny,” Angel’s voice suddenly softened, “but they’re not your powers.”

A tumultuous noise resounded from the shadows, the ground quaking as if something was approaching Angel.

Yet, Angel remained unphased and continued, “I am a wizard of the illusion arts. I don’t know how familiar you are with wizards, but within the illusion arts, there’s a discipline called Heart Illusion. To become a wizard of this discipline, one needs to have a grasp of behavioral studies and psychology.”

“In my pursuit of mastering the Heart Illusion Spell, I’ve delved into some behavioral studies. Analyzing your recent actions… they’re intriguing,” he mused.

The ambient noises grew increasingly deafening, accompanied by a pungent stench and overwhelming malevolent intentions that enveloped Angel.

Soon, the vague outlines of shapes loomed ever closer.

Yet, Angel continued to taunt, undeterred.

“Those who rely on external forces to demonstrate their strength often lack power within,” Angel said with a radiant smile. “Doesn’t that remind you of your own actions?”

As Angel’s words settled, a fierce gust blew in.

With a light step backward, Angel retreated a few paces.

Where he previously stood, a vast pit emerged.

As the pit appeared, the surroundings suddenly brightened. This illumination wasn’t due to any spell cast by Angel, but from countless ghosts that had converged from unknown origins. Their inherent glow illuminated the pitch-black surroundings.

With the faint glow, Angel discerned the situation around him.

“This doesn’t look good,” Angel murmured. He had noticed the massive shapes in the darkness earlier, but only now, with the light revealing the details, did Angel realize what he had been bantering with.

Not to mention the innumerable ghosts.

And behind him, the Giant Mountain and Serpent Ghost had crossed the great chasm and were now less than a hundred meters away, glaring intently at him.

Not to mention the other side, where the trees bore witness to over a dozen Scarlet Ghosts, their eerie gazes cutting through the darkness and fixing upon him.

Facing Angel directly was a monstrous specter so terrifying that it sent shivers down his spine.

To be precise, it was an eyeball, incredibly massive, rivaling even the towering giants looming in the background.

This elliptical eye, with its blood-red iris, eerily rotated within its white sclera.

Upon seeing this ocular ghost, Angel instantly recognized its origin. Before sneaking into the Living Soul Garden with Shadow, he had glimpsed this identical eye beyond the dome of the Middle World.

According to Shadow, this eye belonged to a creature named Cersabiras.

Cersabiras was a gargantuan demon, its true form so immense that a mere shift could upheave the heavens and earth. For the sake of the lives in the Middle World, wizards commanded it to stay still, so it roamed the middle layer solely with its eye.

Cersabiras’s power was also formidable, reaching the pinnacle of second level wizards.

Angel hadn’t expected Princess Guman to have even secured the ghost of such a colossal demon!

He could only hope that this was just an eye, without its true form. If its body existed, Angel himself wasn’t afraid; at worst, he’d just make a quick exit. But he feared for Black Castle and prayed for its safety.
