Chapter 1677 Three Doors <TOC> Chapter 1679 Sinful Demon? Inner Demon?

Only three doors stood before Sharu.

It seemed that apart from choosing one of these three doors to open, he had no other options.

But which door should he open?

For Sharu, these three doors represented three distinct emotions.

The first door embodied the nostalgic memories of his childhood, the sensation of being timid when close to home. The second door symbolized the chilling scars he was hesitant to touch, and the third door represented… his current state of being.

If Sharu were to genuinely choose from the depths of his heart, he would want to open the first door.

He thought that having been away from his childhood home for so many years, he had long forgotten what it looked like. But when that door appeared before him, he realized he had never forgotten. He never erased the memories of his old home. Instead, he had treasured them deep within his heart, like the most precious gift, one he was reluctant to unwrap.

So many years had passed, yet that gift remained unchanged, capturing the moment he left. In contrast, he had grown from an innocent child into an adult.

His once mischievous elder brother, Lietz, had become steady and mature, while Sharu had transformed into the very image he used to despise.

Sharu stood before the first door for a long, long time, with a flurry of memories flooding his mind.

Numerous times, he extended his hand to the door. Yet, each time, he merely touched its surface and did not push it open.

After a long while, Sharu turned away and left the first door behind.

“The most precious gifts are best kept treasured,” Sharu murmured softly. At this moment, he was unsure whether it was the overwhelming nostalgia or the fact that he couldn’t face his past home with his current self.

Without any hesitation between the second and third doors, Sharu went straight to the third door.

Upon seeing the second door, it felt to him as if he was staring at the miserly and gaunt faces of his uncle’s family. He held such disdain for it that he didn’t even want to touch this door.

The third door, on the other hand, resembled a miniature version of the gate to Initial Heart City. After all, he was brought here by Angel and Freud. In Sharu’s mind, perhaps they awaited him beyond this third door.

Thus, he ultimately chose to push open the third door.

This time, he didn’t hesitate.

With a creaking sound, the stone gate slowly opened, and Sharu stepped through.

The moment Sharu entered through the third door, the ambient light noticeably brightened, albeit only slightly more luminous than the previously dim corridor. It felt like an overcast day.

A cold gust of wind blew, causing Sharu to shiver. Turning to survey his surroundings, he realized the environment was all too familiar.

“The Stone Pillar Coliseum?” Sharu observed the grandiose structures around him — rows of seats extending upwards and several emblematic pillars carved with beastly figures. He instantly recognized this place.

It was the Stone Pillar Coliseum in the southern part of Initial Heart City.

Upon confirming his location, a shadow crossed Sharu’s face. Previously, after fusing with that creature, he had fought a battle here against the knight Sabel. He was on the verge of victory, only to be obstructed by Angel… This memory was a source of deep humiliation for him.

Even though Sharu knew that he had been seduced by the creature then, almost plunging into the endless Abyss.

He still couldn’t let go of the shame.

Sharu wasn’t sure why he was here, but his mood was sour, and he didn’t want to linger in a place that brought him such embarrassment.

With haste, Sharu headed towards the main gate of the Stone Pillar Coliseum, eager to leave this unsettling place behind.

When Sharu opened the door, he was taken aback.

According to his memory, behind the main entrance of the Stone Pillar Coliseum should be Grud Street in the southern part of the city. Why was there… an empty void of darkness?

There was no path; one step out, and he’d plunge into the void.

Sharu stood frozen at the door for a while, unsure of what to do. Just then, a chilling wind blew from the void so fiercely that Sharu couldn’t maintain his balance.

After being tossed around, Sharu fell to the ground as if following a parabolic trajectory.

When Sharu opened his eyes, he realized that the cold gust had blown him onto an arena.

Despite the pain, he struggled to stand and leave. But the very instant he managed to stand, a whistle sounded in his ears. Confused, he looked around. No one was blowing a whistle.

But the sound was unmistakable, like a referee signaling… the start of a duel.

Hiss, hiss…

A strange rustling came from behind Sharu.

Hearing that familiar sound, every inch of the skin on Sharu’s back tensed up. Trembling, he slowly turned around. Seeing the creature that was making the noise, Sharu instinctively stepped back.

A creature with a nauseating worm-like head, butterfly wings at its ears, a body as long as a snake, covered with barbs and segmented limbs.

This monster was the very one that had once fused with him!

There was nothing around just moments ago. How did it appear?!

Startled, as Sharu tried to comprehend the situation, the creature suddenly let out a creepy laugh, “You’re here…”

“You, why are you here? And where is this place?” Sharu asked, trembling with fear.

The terrifying creature lifted its worm-like head, ignoring Sharu’s question and said slowly, “You truly disappointed me. Didn’t you say you wouldn’t give up? Why, then, have you forsaken me?”

Sharu shook his head, “I didn’t abandon you. It wasn’t me.”

The creature’s segmented limbs began to move rapidly, creating a rustling sound, advancing menacingly towards Sharu. Just as it seemed about to corner Sharu at the edge of the arena, it paused, its voice repeatedly querying in an almost accusatory tone, “Tell me, why did you abandon me?”

“It wasn’t me. It was the master of that new world who ejected you from my body. I knew nothing about it!” Sharu exclaimed in a panic.

“That’s because you are too weak,” came the voice. Although it emanated from the creature, it sounded eerily familiar to Sharu, yet he couldn’t pinpoint whose voice it was.

“Since you’ve abandoned me, you will pay the price!” The creature’s voice regained its eerie quality as it arrogantly lifted its head, “I must kill you. Only by doing so can I return!”

With those words, it launched an attack as swift as lightning, reaching Sharu in an instant.

“… Mr. Jon has already begun detailing and planning for the new city. Based on the current pace, the preliminary blueprints should be completed in about half to one month,” Sabel reported, taking advantage of a lull during his House of Hearts experience. Meanwhile, Freud picked up a planning document, briefing Angel on recent developments.

However, after speaking for some time, Freud received no response from Angel. With a puzzled look, he glanced up to find Angel seemingly lost in thought, his gaze fixed intently on the House of Hearts resting on the table.

Following Angel’s gaze, Freud observed nothing wrong with the House of Hearts. Sharu was still deeply engrossed. Why was Angel so intently watching the House of Hearts?

As Freud’s confusion grew, Angel suddenly remarked, “The fluctuation of the illusionary energy has suddenly intensified.”

“Huh?” Freud was puzzled.

“It seems that Sharu might be fighting something. Otherwise, the illusionary energy fluctuation wouldn’t be this intense,” Angel deduced.

In the Wilderness of Dreams, Freud was, in essence, a mere mortal, incapable of sensing energy fluctuations. However, Angel could. This was the first time the illusionary energy from the House of Hearts fluctuated so violently, capturing his attention.

According to Angel’s inference, Sharu might currently experiencing something, perhaps he’s facing his inner demon.
