Chapter 991 Wasteland of Dreams

Chapter 990 A Trace of Dream <TOC> Chapter 992 The Purifiers

Sanders was certain; if Angel was committed to exploring the mysterious forces, he wouldn’t risk attracting attention at this moment. Plus, according to his own words, he had possessed the Dream Conch for quite a while now; he should have already conducted any necessary research instead of hurrying at the last minute.

Hence, Sanders suspected that Angel had an alternate objective.

“Indeed, I am investigating the Dream Conch. However, I am curious — where would an object drawn into the dream by the conch end up?”

Where would it end up? Sanders was taken aback.

Though he had not studied the mechanism of the Dream Conch, he had gathered some knowledge from various tales. Isn’t it known to randomly pull things into the expansive Dream Realm? Where else could it go?

Angel: “In fact, I am conducting a small study. However, before I could find the answer, you returned, mentor.”

Eyeing Angel thoughtfully, Sanders hesitated before asking, “What answer are you seeking?”

“That depends on the outcome.” Angel paused, “Mentor, may I have a few minutes to examine the results of my research?”

Sanders ultimately nodded. He was still unclear about Angel’s intentions, so this was an opportunity to delve deeper.

Upon his approval, Angel started radiating an unusual energy fluctuation.

Sanders recognized that Angel was building a spell model.

“But, it has persisted for a minute. It seems that this spell model is not familiar to Angel.” Sanders contemplated inwardly.

While Sanders was guessing what spell Angel was creating, he saw an odd energy, blended with nightmare power, enveloping Angel. In the next second, Angel fell into a deep sleep.

“Huh, it’s a dream-based spell?!” Sanders raised his eyebrows. Dream-based spells are a highly specialized category, and to be frank, Sanders himself had never learned dream-based spells.

No wonder it took so long to construct the spell model earlier. Undertaking dream-based spell training within a year, could it be a forced construction of the spell model?

“He’s quite audacious.” After muttering to himself, Sanders looked at the soundly sleeping Angel, feeling more confused.

Earlier, Angel used the Dream Conch to draw things into the Dream Realm. Could it be that falling asleep like this would serendipitously lead him to those items? That seems utterly implausible.

The spell of Dream Initiation, admittedly, could trace the dreams of the dreamer, gaining access to their dream realm.

However, Angel’s method was evidently different from this.

It’s essential to comprehend that the dream realm is boundless in scale, and more so, it’s in a state of ceaseless creation and dissolution — akin to a boundless ocean reflecting the depth and vastness of one’s thoughts.

Amid such a vast dreamscape, for Angel to seek out the object drawn into the dream by the Dream Conch is tantamount to seeking a needle in a cosmic haystack.

Unless, of course, the Dream Conch could specify the location of the object within the dream realm.

Yet if the Dream Conch held such potent capabilities, it wouldn’t be referred to as the most chicken-ribbed of Mysterious Objects.

Sanders’ suspicions continued to deepen until Angel emerged from his dream—

Upon awakening, Angel appeared rather peculiar, murmuring incoherently, lost in a deep reverie.

After what seemed like an eternity, Angel gradually regained his bearings and noticed Sanders, seated at his desk, questioning with furrowed brows, “What did you see? Did you find what you drew into the dream?”

Angel shook his head earnestly, “I saw nothing.”

Sanders had harbored a smidgen of hope that Angel might offer an “unexpected” response, which was evidently not the case.

Crossing his legs, Sanders remarked nonchalantly, “It seems your findings didn’t quite meet your expectations?”

Yet, Angel kept shaking his head. After a moment’s hesitation, he stated, “Though I didn’t see it, I could sense its location…”

What?! Sanders swiftly jerked his head upward to look at Angel.

After a while, Sanders found himself in a gloomy world. It was an endless barren wilderness, void of anything. The sky above was grim and overcast, blurring the boundary between day and night.

This atmospheric condition and setting were not alien to Sanders.

Such scenarios were plentiful within the Abyss.

However, this was not the Abyss. Even though Sanders currently lacked the capacity to manipulate any energy, being as powerless as a mortal, his superior physical constitution clearly indicated to him that there wasn’t the faintest whiff of the Abyss around him.

Sanders steeled himself against the accelerating rhythm of his own heartbeat.

His gaze reverberated with awe, wandering across the expanse around him until it settled upon an incongruous bookshelf not too far away.

Within the boundless wilderness, there was nothing to be seen, not even a single rock. Yet, there stood a bookshelf, starkly out of place in its absurdity.

The bookshelf wasn’t unfamiliar to him; it was the one from his study.

After a moment’s hesitation, he found himself drawn towards the bookshelf. As he approached, he could clearly discern the books neatly arranged upon it. He reached out and extracted a slim, black-bound volume.

The title read —The Application of Illusionary Prism—, and the author was none other than himself.

The contents of the book were etched in his memory; he could recite them by heart. He merely skimmed through the first couple of pages and immediately recognized the book as a perfect replica of the one from his study.

This identical replication wasn’t limited to the content alone; even the degree of ink saturation, the smoothness of the paper, and the tiny frayed edges were identical to the last detail.

“Is this the Dream Realm? Is this bookshelf the one brought into the dream by the Dream Conch?”

Sanders’ arrival here was, of course, a consequence of Angel’s use of the Dream Initiation spell.

Until now, Sanders found the entire situation rather baffling. How could a once-labelled “chicken ribs” Mysterious Object attain such a feat?

He was well aware of how astonishing it would be if one could accurately pinpoint the location of objects drawn into the dream by the Dream Conch!

Just as Sanders was immersed in this daze, the sound of footsteps echoed from behind him.

Turning back, he saw that Angel had also entered this realm through the Dream Initiation spell.

Not only the objects, but even people could be pinpointed?

Sanders drew in a sharp breath, could it be that Angel was a Son of Providence of the “Dream Realm”?

Otherwise, how could one accomplish such precise positioning in the vast dream world?

Sanders voiced the doubts swirling in his heart.

Angel paused in his stride. Even now, he was in a state of bewilderment.

His hypothesis, it turns out, may well have been accurate. For instance, a semblance of the “Wilderness of Dreams” has indeed made an appearance here, via the Dream Conch. Or perhaps, “Wasteland of Dreams” would be a more fitting descriptor.

Yet, what bemused Angel most was that upon his arrival, the long-dormant “Power of the Wilderness of Dreams” deep within his mind stirred to life.

The “Gate of Dreams” and its “Gatekeeper” were simultaneously activated! This, then, enabled him to dictate the placement of external objects within this realm.

Simultaneously, he was also keenly aware of some general insights about this new “Wasteland of Dreams”!

Contrary to what he had envisioned, the Wasteland of Dreams was not an Interstitial Space, meaning there were no passages leading to the Nightmare Plane.

Because of this very fact, the Wasteland of Dreams was devoid of any nightmare aura.

Without this nightmare aura, it was impossible to achieve godly perspective. Angel’s ability to pinpoint locations accurately was due solely to the Power of the Wilderness of Dreams.

The “Wasteland of Dreams” was still expansive, in fact, it could stand toe-to-toe with the “Wilderness of Dreams”. However, it did not connect to the Wilderness of Dreams which held Initial Heart City. Upon its inception, even though the Wasteland of Dreams was still anchored close to the Dream Realm, it existed in isolation right from the start.

But if there is no connection to the Wilderness of Dreams, why could the Power of the Wilderness of Dreams be utilized here?

Could it be that there is a distinction between the primary and secondary worlds between the Wasteland of Dreams and the Wilderness of Dreams?

The Wilderness of Dreams is the host, and the Wasteland of Dreams is the guest. Their essence is the same, thus allowing for shared powers?

Will they ever merge into one?

“How did you manage to pinpoint this place precisely?” Seeing Angel in a daze, Sanders asked once more.

Coming back to his senses, Angel sighed, “In truth, this is not the real Dream Realm.”

“This isn’t the Dream Realm?” Sanders furrowed his brows.

Angel sat down cross-legged on the ground and began to slowly unfold the story of the “Wilderness of Dreams”.

“In reality, the transformation of my right hand is related to this,” Angel paused for a moment, “Initially, I only wanted to save Jon…”

With Angel’s narrative, Sanders gradually came to understand the origins and birth of the Wilderness of Dreams.

The more he understood, the more startled Sanders became.

Indeed, the grand reveal was reserved for the end!

The event of Angel merging into Lucas’s skull only significantly impacts a minor population.

The emergence of Jon, an alien human, at its most powerful only equates to a jubilation shared between the academic faction and the Karabite people.

However, the “Wilderness of Dreams”! This has the potential to influence the entire Wizarding World!

Just as Freud suggested, the potential of the Wilderness of Dreams far surpasses Angel’s wildest expectations. Especially now that Angel has not only crafted the Wilderness of Dreams within the Wizarding World, but also conjured the Wasteland of Dreams in the abyss!

Sanders is left nearly dazed by successive waves of astonishment.

Within the narrative of the Wilderness of Dreams, there are numerous instances that draw Sanders’ attention. For example, Angel’s audacity to sever the Interstitial Space is breathtaking! This act drew the attention of a figure from the Nightmare Plane resembling Shava, which subsequently enhanced his Projection Bloodline.

In addition, there’s the green rune on his right hand, an unexpected weapon of great power, that can even assist Angel in acquiring control over the Wilderness of Dreams.

After hearing Angel’s account, Sanders is filled with a desire to throttle him.

The audacity of this youngster is utterly outrageous!

Understand that even if it were Sanders himself, in the face of such a vast Interstitial Space like the “Wilderness of Dreams,” he would lack the courage to sever it.

Yet this young bull, Angel, proceeds without consideration!

This reminds Sanders of the circumstances during Twilight Auction. Angel, with a fearlessness born from ignorance, risked nearly overturning the status quo of the Wizarding World and almost unleashed the Queen of the Nightmare Plane.

Sanders continuously takes deep breaths, and after a considerable amount of time, feeling somewhat calmer, he grits his teeth and declares:

“This matter must absolutely not be leaked!”

This is the third time he has uttered these exact words within a single day!

Looking at Sanders’ somewhat savage face, Angel swallows and nods, “I understand…”

After issuing his warning, Sanders prepares to inquire meticulously about the Wilderness of Dreams. Previously, Angel had only provided a rough overview; he had not delved into detailed specifics.

Although each hole Angel pokes tends to punch through the heavens, the value contained within cannot be underestimated.

Angel had no intention of hiding anything from Sanders in the first place, and so he starts to carefully narrate about the Wilderness of Dreams.

However, just as he begins, an abrupt change occurs—

Angel senses an anomaly within his mind regarding the “Gatekeeper” ability!

The Gatekeeper’s power can govern the entry of external entities into the Wilderness of Dreams. That is to say, without Angel’s permission, creatures from outside cannot enter the Wilderness of Dreams.

Since Angel obtained the Gatekeeper ability, this power has never been activated!

Now that the Gatekeeper ability is activated, could it be that some foreign entity is attempting to forcefully breach the boundary?!
